David died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at Norfolk Veterans Home in Norfolk.

David E. Wallick was born May 28, 1946, to Clarence and Pauline (Walden) Wallick in Albion.

To many old friends, he was known as “Seapops.” Dave lived in Albion until 1960, when the family moved to Columbus, where he finished his schooling. He entered the United States Navy on early enlistment and served two and one-half years aboard the USS Nicholas as a radio operator. After his honorable discharge, Dave returned to Columbus to work at Dale Electronics and help at the family business, Wallick’s Radiator.

On June 7, 1969, Dave married Linda Skokan. In 1975, he re-enlisted in the Navy as a radar operator on a P-3 plane at Moffett Field in California. He and Linda stayed there until 1980, when they moved back to Nebraska and took over his family’s business.

Dave enjoyed teaching GED students for several years. Due to health issues, they sold the business and moved to Creighton, where he enjoyed time with neighbors, family and friends. He also enjoyed watching stock car races.

Dave became a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1151 in Creighton and helped, when possible with fundraisers. He enjoyed a USS Nicholas reunion in San Diego and keeping in touch with friends from the VP-46 squadron.

Dave entered the veterans home in Norfolk in 2015, and while living there, enjoyed Bingo, outings and visits with new friends.

Dave is survived by his wife, Linda Wallick of Creighton; sister, Viola (Don) Flood of Schuyler; brother, Douglas (Caroline) Wallick of San Diego, Calif.; half-brother, Edwin (Debra) Wallick of Brevard, N.C.; brother-in-law, Robert (Kerrol) Skokan of Verdigre; sister-in-law, Nancy (Greg) Nolan of Elkhorn; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Pauline Wallick; sister, Fanny (Marvin) Trotter; sister-in-law, Phyllis (Herman) Dannert; and brother-in-law, Larry (Vicky) Skokan.
